Students Have a Blast Launching Rockets
North Elementary School students in Ms. Haber's fifth grade class had the opportunity to watch a rocket launch in person!
Mr. Dobrowski, a Special Education Paraeducator, brought two different types of rockets to launch behind North School, since the fifth graders were studying rocket launches in science class.
Students were given the opportunity to launch each rocket safely by standing a far distance away from the rocket and pressing the trigger switch.
The first rocket was had the potential to launch 500 feet in the air, while the second had the potential to go up to 1000 feet.
As the rockets launched into the air they left a trail of smoke in front of the students.
Once the rocket's parachutes deployed the students could see the rockets float down to the ground, landing in the forest preserve area behind the school.
All of the students had a "blast" watching both of the rockets launch.
