All of the students at North Elementary are reading the book "The Wild Robot" by Author Peter Brown for the school's "One School One Story" activity.

The book teaches about acceptance and belonging, showing how even someone different, like a robot, can find family and connection within a community.

Library Media Specialist Ms. Kelley Torres said the story highlights the importance of empathy and compassion.

She said it demonstrates "how understanding and caring for others, both human and animal, strengthens our own sense of belonging within our school and wider community."

As a school community building activity, each classroom planned, designed and brought in the supplies to build a class robot.

The classrooms had a friendly competition to see who could design the most unique robot!
