Students "Walk Off for Cancer"
For the twelfth year in a row, North Elementary School students participated in the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation's "Walk Off for Cancer" fundraiser.
Over the past few weeks students had the chance to donate $1 for a raffle prize to raise money for cancer research.
Prizes ranged from a trip to the Enchanted Castle, tickets to a Chicago Bulls game and comedy club tickets.
The fundraiser culminated on Friday, September 20 when students walked several times with their classes around the outside of the school.
Students had a fun time talking to one another as they walked and were excited to be outside raising money while getting some physical activity in.
After the walk, Fifth Grade Teacher Mr. Lisy, who helps organize the fundraiser, asked students to help pull the raffle tickets as well as count the money that was raised.
This was good practice for the students as they gained experience counting money and could connect math to real world situations.
Principal Allar was happy to report that North Elementary raised more than $700 for the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation!
A huge thank you to all of the families who donated to this fundraiser!
Way to go, North! D62 is proud of you!
