Creativity and Craftsmanship in Crochet Club

Creativity and Craftsmanship in Crochet Club
North

Crochet Club is a biweekly recess club for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at North Elementary School.

Students learn basic crochet techniques such as the slip stitch, chain and single crochet stitches.

Nearly 60 students have attended, and even more will be starting in spring!

Students have embarked on their own individual projects or can create squares for a community quilt.

Learning a skill like crochet has so many benefits! These include fine motor skills, creativity, craftsmanship, patience, perseverance and community.

The crochet club facilitators, music teachers Mrs. Miranda Brim and Ms. Sofia Gutierrez, learned to crochet from their grandmothers.

They continue to learn from patterns, books, and videos, and are so excited to pass on a craft they love to their students!
