Collaborations and Connections

This school year North Elementary School students and teachers have begun a collaborative program in which students from all grade levels have the opportunity to interact with one another. 

Students from each grade level come together in small groups to participate in creative and fun activities with teachers they may not have had before. 

Library Media Assistant Kelley Torres said the collaboration allows the older students to take on leadership responsibilities, as they are mentoring the younger students in their group. 

The unique program allows all of the students a chance to work with one another, while making new friends in the process. 

Torres said these experiences “foster a sense of belonging and empower students to work collaboratively with their peers, improving their social skills and teamwork abilities.”
