A Visit from the DP History Center
North
As part of the Flip the Trip Club, North third graders recently had an opportunity to welcome Emma Marston from the Des Plaines History Museum.
Ms. Natalie Stevens, who runs the club, said the students had the chance to interact with artifacts that were once common in local households.
Stevens said the students loved turning the coffee grinder, dialing the rotary phone and modeling vintage clothing.
They learned how technology has changed daily life.
The Flip the Trip Club is made up of 15 third graders who use their recess time once a week to go on "field trips" while at school.
The club is an opportunity for students to experience something new, boost curiosity and pique new interests.
